Luke Merrill, M.A., LPC
Luke Merrill is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Illinois who supports children, adolescents, and families navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and emotional regulation challenges. He’s known for his calm, steady presence and his ability to help kids feel truly seen, safe, and understood.
An Extensive Background of Care
Before entering the counseling field, Luke served as a Children’s Pastor at Christian Life Church in Mount Prospect, IL. As a fourth-generation minister and lifelong pastor’s kid, he carries a deep love for Jesus and a passion for making mental health a normal, hopeful conversation in the local church.
He holds an M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from Trinity International University and a B.A. in Ministerial Studies from Christian Life College.
How Luke Helps
Luke’s work is grounded in trust and connection—because meaningful change happens when kids feel comfortable being themselves and families feel supported. He blends play therapy, talk therapy, and cognitive-behavioral strategies to help children and teens:
Express emotions in healthy ways
Build confidence and resilience
Strengthen communication and relationships
Develop tools they can use at home, school, and in daily life
He partners closely with parents to reduce stress, improve family rhythms, and create lasting change beyond the therapy room.
Faith, Community, and Life Outside the Office
Luke continues to serve as a Deacon in his church and teaches psychology and counseling courses at Christian Life College. At home, he enjoys board games with his wife and unwinding on the drums.
